SABINA DUMITRESCU

About me

I’m Sabina Dumitrescu, a psychologist and integrative psychotherapist in Bucharest.

Psychology has always fascinated me. I hold a doctorate in the field and continue to learn about people, relationships and the world around us.

I use an integrative approach because I believe every person is unique. Empathy, compassion, curiosity, a sense of humour, respect and commitment guide the way I work.

We agree on the goals of our conversations together and return to them as our work develops. I look first at the person in front of me, the situations they face and the resources they already have.

International and corporate experience

My background includes organisational psychology and work in multicultural and international environments. I have worked on assessment centres and development centres for leading multinational companies, alongside training in communication, collaboration and leadership.

This experience gives me a grounded understanding of professional life: diverse teams, changing roles, high expectations and workplace relationships. In therapy, it helps me understand the connections between your personal life, career and organisational context.

Multicultural understanding

My international experience includes work with multicultural teams and applied psychology workshops with the British Council in Bucharest, a collaboration that began in 2002. In 2005 I presented work on multicultural work teams at an international knowledge management conference at WU Vienna.

For expats and internationally mobile professionals, that perspective can make it easier to discuss belonging, relationships, identity and professional transitions in context.

Professional principles

Respect for each person’s dignity, professional responsibility, integrity and continuing training are central to my practice. We discuss confidentiality and its limits as part of our work together.
